SOUTHERN PACIFIC'S
COMMON STANDARD #22 DEPOTS
History of the Common Standard #22
The first depot appears to have been at Lincoln, California. This station was built in 1894, and according to its building diagram, originally had the usual two-adjacent-window waiting room end wall. While it is not yet confirmed, Phil Serpico provides the following evidence:
1. The Southern Pacific Annual Report for 1895. Palmdale and Watsonville were built in this year, both #22's.
2. The Standard No. 25 drawing is dated 1894 and the Standard No. 26 drawings are dated June 1893.
